“Demonstrable and replicable cluster implementing systemic solutions through multilevel circular value chains for eco-efficient valorization of fishing and fish industries side-streams.”
Project Number: 101036428
Project Duration: October 2021 – September 2026
Total budget: € 18.583.714
Supported by: Horizon 2020
Website: EcoeFISHent
The Project:
EcoeFISHent project aims at the creation of a territorial cluster for circular economy and industrial symbiosis in Liguria and neighboring territories. This is persued by the design, development, and deployment of innovative bio-mass pre-treatment and specific extraction technologies, to enable sustainable and efficient utilization of Fish Processing Side-streams (FPS) and Fishing and Fish-industry Side-streams (FFS).
Objectives of the project
Primary goals for EcoeFISHent project can be summarized as:
• Adopt an effective and economically sustainable method of fishing and fish industry side-streams (FFS) and fish co-product (FCP).
• Turn side costs into revenues by implementing circular supply chains for efficient biomass exploitation through the extraction of bioactives to obtain high value-added products in food, cosmetics and automotive.
• Enhance fish processing and Agro Side-Streams by creating circular value chains of sustainable packaging.
Our involvement in the project
As sustainability experts we are responsible for the operational management of the project EcoeFISHent and of the development of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Life Cycle Costing (LCC) and Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA) for the involved sectors.
We will identify the most critical sources of environmental-cost and social-impacts through the products life cycle. This will provide an economic, environmental and social assessment of the developed territorial cluster.
Moreover, we are responsible for the cluster digital twins design and development.
